International Conference at SIOI - Italian Society for International Organization

AB AQUA took part in the conference organized by the Italian Society for International Organization (SIOI) on the topic of Arctic governance and resource management, at a time when global attention on the polar region is rapidly increasing.

During the event, Filippo Verre, President of AB AQUA, presented an innovative and forward-looking proposal: the drafting of an Arctic Constitution—a shared charter among the interested nations aimed at limiting unilateral activities and preventing potential conflicts over resource exploitation and emerging maritime routes.

His intervention stressed the urgent need to move from a fragmented governance model to a shared and multilateral legal framework, capable of balancing sovereignty, cooperation, and environmental protection. In a context of growing geopolitical competition, the Arctic has the potential to shift from a contested space to a laboratory of diplomacy and global sustainability.
