Filippo Verre (PHD, MPS, MA, BA, LLB) is a Postdoctoral Researcher at Lund University at the Centre for Advanced Middle Eastern Studies (CMES). He holds a PhD in Geopolitics from the University of Pisa and is the President of AB AQUA, the first Italian think tank on hydrostrategy. Previously, he graduated in Law (LLB, 2015) and in Political Science (BA, 2016). He then completed his postgraduate studies in Oxford, where he obtained a Master of Arts (MA, 2016) in International Studies - International Relations from Oxford Brookes University. He then studied in Rome at SIOI (Italian Society for International Organization), where he obtained a Master Degree (MPS, 2017) in Diplomatic and Economic Studies.
His work bridges political science with economics, sociology and environmental studies, demonstrating how the interconnection of disciplines leads to more thoughtful and robust solutions. Following his multi-scale approach, Dr. Verre has published in several international academic journals with the aim of fostering interdisciplinary collaboration and ensuring that research informs – and is informed by – broader academic and policy debates, leading to more comprehensive and impactful results.
A keen sports fan in general, he follows the NBA and rugby with interest.
Role in AB AQUA
Filippo Verre has held several senior roles within AB AQUA. From January 2021 to January 2024, Dr. Verre served as Executive Director, contributing significantly to the strategic and operational development of the organization.
After completing his term as Executive Director, Filippo Verre assumed the role of Group President. He currently oversees the strategic vision of AB AQUA. In this role, he drives the production of innovative research, fosters a broad network of international collaborations, and manages the overall operations of the working group organization.
