Hydro-strategic consultancy

AB AQUA is a think tank specializing in hydrostrategy, with a clear focus on sustainable water management and the development of strategic hydro-infrastructures. Through an interdisciplinary approach, AB AQUA offers strategic advisory services to governments, international institutions and private companies to address the challenges of water scarcity, water conflicts and resilient infrastructure planning.

Water resources management

One of AB AQUA's main services is integrated water resources management consultancy. The think tank supports decision makers in implementing policies for a fair and sustainable distribution of water, helping to balance human, agricultural and industrial consumption needs. Through advanced analysis of river basins and the use of real-time monitoring tools, AB AQUA provides recommendations to optimize the use of water resources and mitigate the risks of scarcity or excess.

AB AQUA’s consultancy activity in the field of water management is primarily aimed at the technological efficiency of aqueducts, which are subject to significant losses due to maintenance neglect and infrastructure obsolescence. In this respect, among the recent projects, it is worth mentioning the monitoring of water losses in the Turkish aqueduct of Mersin. In this large city located on the south-eastern coast of Turkey, efficient water management has become a priority due to significant water losses in the distribution network. To address this challenge, AB AQUA was involved in a consultancy project aimed at monitoring water losses along the city aqueduct.

The project, in collaboration with other nationally renowned companies, used advanced leak detection technologies, including remote monitoring systems and sensors for analyzing water pressures. This approach allowed to precisely identify the critical areas of the network, facilitating rapid and targeted interventions to repair damaged pipes. Before the intervention, it was estimated that up to 40% of the distributed water was lost, with a negative economic and environmental impact. The importance of the project lies not only in improving the efficiency of the water network, but also in reducing the waste of precious water resources. Thanks to the work of AB AQUA, the municipality of Mersin was able to drastically reduce leaks, ensuring a more stable water supply and contributing to the long-term sustainability of the city.

Strategic Hydro Infrastructure Design

AB AQUA is at the forefront of strategic hydro infrastructure construction consultancy. The think tank works with local and international partners to design and develop desalination plants and deep wells in regions affected by water scarcity. These projects aim to improve access to drinking water and provide long-term solutions for water resilience, especially in areas with adverse climate conditions.

AB AQUA’s expertise is not limited to design; the think tank also assists governments in planning and financing infrastructure, identifying sources of international investment and funds for sustainable development. With a long-term strategic vision, AB AQUA helps create innovative water solutions that respond to the challenges of climate change and population growth.
